Muller Cuteness

Have you guys seen these super cute Muller yogurt commercials? I am totally digging the vision of the stylists behind this work. I think they've captured the 20-30 age bracket of millennial woman perfectly. She's got the quirky, Zooey Deschanel look about her; with the blunt cut bangs, cat eye makeup paired with a bright lip, thin gold rings, and an eclectic style of dress. (It also makes me really want to try their yogurt; advertising success!) And did I mention she wears glitter heeled shoes, a parrot skirt I recognized from H&M, runs late for work, and has romantic candle-lit picnics on the dock with her boyfriend?! I mean, she's just like me!

Hunting Style

Totally loving everything about Tommy Hilfiger's Fall 2012 look: The Hunt, right now. Cable knits, plaid, velvet, and quilted textures. Camel, maroon, mustard, and rust colors. Totally digging the shooting style sweater the model, direct center, has on especially. Hand me my most fabulous pair of riding boots and a saddle and I will be set for Fall!

Too Tall?

Being 5'9" I'm already pretty tall. Being in flats or sandals gives me a chance to be close to eye level with my petite friends. When I was younger I felt so awkward walking around in high heels, towering above most of the other girls. I feel like Godzilla attacking the shorter people around me.  But, as I got older and became more confident and comfortable in myself I was proud to show off my height no matter what footwear I sported.

But recently I've been wondering how tall is too tall? There are some shoes I have been coveting; but between the platform and the wedge height, they'll add about 5 inches to my height. That's putting me at 6'2"! And for the record I'm not moonlighting as a model, so my day to day life doesn't involve a runway to strut down. What do you guys think? Am I reverting back to my self-conscious self or should I embrace my gentle giant facade and rock the highest heels I can?

Summer in the Fall

While we in the Northern hemisphere are celebrating the beginning of fall and winter, those down under are saying hello to spring and summer. New Zealand designer Katie-Maree Cole's soft colors and feminine silhouettes for her 2012 collection have me wanting to skip ahead a few months on the calendar! Peter Pan collars, bright orange, and leopard prints? Sign me up!

A Wonderful Weekend

One of my favorite places downtown is a tiny placed called Gratz Park. It's the first time I've been there since being home and it felt good to reconnect to the little places I love in my hometown. For a hot afternoon of movie watching, eating frozen yogurt, and apartment hunting, an easy outfit was a must. When I first bought this chambray shirt I though I could pull it off as a dress, but it turned out it was much too short and looks better as a tunic with leggings. With such a simple outfit I thought I could get away with some killer wedges to add some visual interest.

Pants Dilemma

Yesterday, I attempted to buy a pair of black pants. I have been without this wardrobe staple for almost 4 years. The question is: what kind of style do I go with? The whole flare or bootleg cut is not for me. I'm much to adjusted to my straight and skinny jeans to try something new. So there I was, in the fitting room of The Gap, with a straight, a slim, and slim cropped style surrounding me. And here's my problem: while they all fit and looked great, I couldn't help but thinking they looked too much like black jeans or leggings. So is there anyway someone could confuse my tight slim black pants as leggings or should I just stick to wearing skirts and dresses to work?

Parisian Fashion

Over the weekend I saw Woody Allen's newest movie, Midnight in Paris. Not only did I love the movie, I loved the costumes of the two leading ladies: Rachel McAdams and Marion Cotillard. Sonia Grande once again works her costume design magic in this film. Previously working with Allen on Vicky Cristina Barcelona (another favorite of mine), she has a great talent for making the simplest pieces make big statements about the character who is wearing them. Rachel's character, Ines, was living in the present and her vacation wear spoke of a woman who comes from privilege and wealth, and appreciates clothing that comes across casual and chic. Many of her clothing came from lines of Chanel, Dior, and Hermes. She was a portrait of simplicity and style and I wanted every single dress she wore in this movie!

Marion's character, Adriana, lived in the world of the 1920's. Her wardrobe was tres flapper-chic; romantic, feminine, and a little bit sultry at times. She embodied everything you'd want from a muse to artists and writers. Feathers, beads, and hair pieces all added to her sparkling personality. I definitely recommend watching this movie, for the fashion if nothing else. You won't be disappointed!

Floral Maxi

I am lucky to have a very sweet friend who is also a very talented seamstress. Angie is my fashion partner-in-crime. We both have over-flowing closets that never seem to be full, and while working together at Anthropologie, we have to stop each other from spending out entire paychecks in the store! As a self-taught seamstress, she amazes me with what she can whip up. I've seen her re-create things she's seen in stores impeccably, as well as turn an old piece of clothing into something new and beautiful. We've gotten together for several sewing project parties where she has altered and hemmed several pieces in my closest back into life, sewed two dresses, and made this floral skirt. Inspired by all the flowy maxi trends everywhere, but balking at the price, we headed to JoAnn's, where 2 yards of soft pastel floral fabric has now become my new favorite piece in my closet. Thank you Angie! xo

As you can see it's perfect for twirling!

The Hellers

This week I have stumbled upon a great clothing line: The Hellers. After seeing this picture of Aimee Teegarden at the 2011 Kid's Choice Awards in their Day Moves Romper, I thought it was so cute and chic. Now I know it's hard to think chic and romper go together, but in this case they do.

After exploring their site for awhile I found out some great things that made me love their company even more. Brother and sister Dania and Yoram are the sibling duo behind The Heller line that is designed and based out of Tel Aviv, Isreal. Their design concept is producing timeless pieces that will last season to season and year after year. And Dania shoots every piece with her Holga camera!

Check out some of my favorite pieces from their Winter 2011 line.

Anthro Model for a Day

I have some amazing photos to share with you guys today. Some of my beautiful co-workers and I got to pretend we were models for a day. Kelly Kruthaupt, an intern at our store, was studying fashion merchandising, and for her final project she wanted to do a photo shoot capturing us in our own unique Anthropologie style.

Kelly asked us to answer a series of questions about ourselves and from the answers she came up with storyboard concept for each one of our shoots, keeping in mind the things we love and what inspires and surrounds our lives. Inspiration ranged from music and fashion to being a new mommy and Parisian lifestyle. Part of my inspiration was drawn from vintage cameras. Combining my love for old collectibles and photography.

Enjoy looking at the beautiful pictures Kelly Kruthaupt styled and shot with our hair done by Crystal Lewis and our makeup done by Cake N Champagne.

Mardi Gras Inspiration

Today's post is for one of my closest friends who is celebrating her first Mardi Gras as a New Orleans resident tomorrow. I have come to learn from her that there isn't just one night of celebration for this NOLA holiday; parades, festivities, and parties have been happening weeks before Fat Tuesday ever comes around. So in honor of her big night of fun or for anyone else having a Mardi Gras themed party tomorrow, I put together a style board of outfitting for the night. Sequin and sparkled purples, greens, and golds were naturally the colors to turn to for inspiration. I know how hot and muggy the nights can get there so short hemlines and loose tank tops were a must as well as flat shoes or sandals for all the walking you're going to be doing up and down the French Quarter. I also didn't forget to include the must have accessory of the night: beads, a mask, and a tote bag or a "throw bag" as the locals call it is a must, so you have a place to stash all stuff people throw to you from the floats.

Desert Jackets

I want to highlight an item I've been seeing at work, Anthropologie, that I am loving and would have never given a second look before. I am calling it a desert jacket (or perhaps field jacket is more common name for it) but I can just picture these jackets being thrown on to shield yourself from the harsh sandy winds or the chilly nights a desert can bring. They all have the similar structural elements to them: drawstring waist or hem, front pockets, rolled sleeve tabs, and in neutral color pallets. Belted or open, hooded or popped collar, I can definitely see myself keeping an eye on these jackets and adding one to my closet before I miss out!

I am particularly liking this one. It's made from tencel fabric which is so buttery soft and lightweight and drapes beautifully on. It looks quite fussy zipped up like in the picture with the collar and flaps but unzipped and paired with a cotton dress or tank and shorts it adds some edginess to an everyday summer look.

Check out some possible outfitting combinations featuring each of my "desert" jacket favs:

Red Carpet Recap

Sunday night, for me, was filled with the anticipation for the Oscars to start, nomination research, and agonizing whom to pick in categories like best supporting actress, best picture, and best director. I am happy to report that I ended with a pretty good score: 18 out of 24. If you followed along with my twitter than you know that the Oscar show itself was a little all over the place. I understand the Academy's attempt to get younger hosts to "relate" to it's younger audience but they need to find more entertaining youth next year to do the job better. Anne had the likability and charm and James sort of had the dry humor thing going for him, but put them together and great hosts it did not make.

But where drama and amazement weren't happening on the Oscar stage, it certainly was happening on the red carpet! These were my favorite looks from the night

Cate Blanchett in Givency

Love the pop of yellow on the shoulder and the detail in the front. So perfect for her

Mandy Moore in Monique Lhuillier. Loved all the sparkles. This was such a different look for her that I didn't recognize her at first!

Natalie Portman in Rodarte. Violet and brunette go beautifully together.

Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabanna. The color and lace details of her dress was stunning and the open back was killer.

I guess I had a thing for pale pinks, nudes and vibrant purples last night. What about you guys? What did you think about the show; who wins the award for best dressed?

The Curve of Forgotten Things

Even though I didn't fall in love with the movie Somewhere, I did fall in love with its star Elle Fanning. She has this relaxed, innocent, calm way about her acting that has me fascinated. Not to mention she's gorgeous with an amazing fashion sense at not even age 13.

Elle stars in Todd Cole and Rodarte's collaboration film, The Curve of Forgotten Things, which highlights their Spring collection. Watch her dance and spin through a historic Los Angeles home where her outfits magically change from one room to another. Each is more beautiful than the next. Tpdd Cole's photography is gorgeous; the film is shot with a dusty, soft focus.  You MUST check out the exclusive film premiere on Nowness' website HERE.  Check out my favorite stills if you're not convinced.

Love the look of these shoes and ankle socks

This high waisted green skirt is amazing

This picture does not do this dress justice; it is beautiful

LOVE these gold shoes too!
