Snoopy Thanksgiving

Even Google couldn't help to get in the spirit. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving comes on at 8pm est tonight on ABC.

Thankful...

Count your many blessings...name them one by one.
Have a happy Thanksgiving; eat a lot, nap a lot, eat some more, have pie and then start thinking about Christmas! :)

Don't you love vintage postcards? They put the funniest things together!

To Get You Pumped

Watch this video and it is sure to put a smile on your face and get you pumped for the holiday weekend!

This just re-affirms that The Muppets are still cool and relevant after 20 plus years and kids today should totally embrace them more.

(P.S. if you're looking for a good holiday flick watch A Muppets Christmas Carol it's awesome!)

Vintage Love

Let me introduce you to a girl who has the vintage style down. Rhiannon Leiheit has the cutest ebay store and blog that shows off the clothes in her personal vintage closet.

Her shop is updated every Thursday with adorable old dresses, skirts, sweaters and jackets she finds in thrift stores, auctions or estate sales. Her boyfriend takes the most gorgeous pictures of her too that really show off the clothes in an old world light.

I don't know if my day job lends itself to her outfits on an everyday basis but if I had a fun outing planned I would love to come raid her closet!

**She reminds me of a cross between Zooey Deschanel and Alyson Hannigan in the face.

Don't Go Out!

Beware of any movie theatre starting tonight at 9pm I'd guess unless you want to be "bit" by a Twli-nerd (that's an official name for them I promise) this weekend.

New Moon premieres at midnight tonight so be prepared for shrieking girls, swooning Moms and long lines at the ticket counter.

Venture out if you dare!

I heart the little things

I am having a love affair with twine. Baker's twine in particular...sigh. I feel like the simplest things make for some of the most beautiful and inspiring things, for me anyways.

With Christmas almost upon us I start to think about wrapping paper, gift tags and bows. I take pride in making sure every gift is perfectly wrapped with some sort of ribbons, sticker or stamp to make it different and special. I absolutely love to wrap my presents in brown butcher paper and do it up with lots of ribbon and string, just like Sister Maria's song, "brown paper packages tied up in string...these are a few of my favorite things."

This year I bought some bakers twine, Martha Stewart brand, at Michael's and am very excited to wrap my gifts in them.

Enjoy some simple inspiration...

And Totally Redeem Yourself!

Over the weekend I went to the movies again and came out of the theater absolutely LOVING the movie we saw: An Education.

If this poster doesn't have you sold on how beautiful this movie will be then watch the trailer.

Carey Mulligan is the new break out star of this flick, there's already Oscar buzz surrounding her for this role, she's like a modern day Audrey Hepburn. She is so charming and sweet in this movie.

I'm not one to blab on and on about the plot because I don't want to ruin it for anyone out there but all you can do is take my word for it. You won't be disappointed.

Also the dresses Jenny (Carey's character) wears are to die for! I want that Monet/Water Lilies inspired dress she has on in the poster immediately! *swoon
Gorgeous right??

Real Talk

I do not keep up with my Twitter account at all because I'm never doing or thinking anything too earth shattering that I feel that everyone needs to know about...I mean that's why I have this blog. haha Besides I usually can't fit my long train of thoughts into 140 characters or less.

*Little Apple Confession* Sometimes I'm slow to pick up on the "hip new trend that the "kids" are using". Say for example DVDs or digital cameras. These are 2 inventions that I was convinced would NEVER catch on; well who has egg on her face now and owns about 100 DVDs and 2 digital cameras???

But maybe now I'll get with it and start using it more to get daily inspiration and motivation from Rev. Run himself! Who else watches Run's House and wishes their phone number was on the daily inspirational/words to live by bathtub text?! Well by following his Tweets you can have a little spiritual inspiration multiple times a day, which is helpful in a time of indecision in my life right now.

Follow him and be better for it. :)

Movie Theory

As luck would have it I made it to the movies this weekend; only to be disappointed.

I saw The Serious Man and it was a horrible movie. If there hadn't been 10 people sitting to the left and 6 to right me and my bf would have left after the first 15 minutes.

This crapfest was written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen and after watching this movie I have come up with a prediction for the the future of these two. They are like M. Night Shyamalan. Started out making good movies such as The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs but then as time went the movies he put out were terrible. I think that these two are headed down the same path. After the 2 hour bore fest I was apart of this weekend I say send them down the crapper!

Case in point: They've had some good movies like Brother Where Art Thou? and The Big Lebowski, and then there are things in the middle like Ladykillers, and No Country for Old Men, but now they've started on the downward turn putting out Burn After Reading and The Serious Man.

Coincidence? I think not. This quote from David Denby of the New Yorker put it best, "A Serious Man, like Burn After Reading, is in their bleak, black, belittling mode, and it’s hell to sit through."

Beware of this movie and their future movies!

Part of That World...

I want to live inside the November issue of the Anthropologie catalog!

I am an Anthro junkie. Love their store, the aesthetic, their clothes, shoes, jewelery, housewares, everything! I get so excited when I get an email update from them or their new catalog finds its way into my mailbox. Obviously with Christmas around the corner they've bumped up the size and thickness of this months book and it's filled beautiful winter coats, boots, party dresses, Christmas ornaments, and snow.

I mean who wouldn't want to let out their inner boho-eclectic-relaxed-chic inner self after looking at all these beautiful clothes??

I just found a blog yesterday (while searching for some of their new catalogue pictures) called "Anthropologie Addict." This blogs basically sums up my obsession with their clothing. Everyday she'll post about an article of clothing she's loving or an Antro related piece of news in the fashion world; she also shares her splurges she buys for herself, which makes me feel better about my spending at their store every once in awhile.

So what are you waiting for go buy yourself something pretty!

Change of Plans

So after the second month of slacking on movie picks I've decided to change up the movie posts and they'll go back to my normal sporadic recommendations or disapproval.

I do want to try to come up with some types of recurring post either weekly or monthly but I haven't made the time to really figure out what I'd like them to be about. I thought movies would be an obvious choice because I love going to the movies, but as in most cases the second I decided I wanted to go to more I had no time to go see them.

I will say this about movies right now that there aren't too many amazing looking movies out right now. I think the Fall is a weird time for movies because the summer blockbuster are over and the Oscar worthy movies don't come out until late November/December so it's been a slow, non interesting time for movies these past few weeks, but it's going to get better soon!

Movies I'm hoping I'll see soon: Boondock Saints 2- This movie came out in select cities on the 30th of October and no word on when it will have a wider release. Fingers crossed it does well and it comes to my city. Precious- Wide release Nov. 20th; with Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey producing this movie it's supposed to a heavy Oscar contender and if you like well acted dramatic powerful movies then I highly recommend it. Don't let the fact that Mariah Carey being in it scare you away (we all remember, or don't remember, Glitter). Nine-just watch this and you'll want to see it.

And on the note of Christmas (I've given up on trying to avoid my love for the holiday early this year) besides the Disney 3-D version of A Christmas Carol coming out this Friday, sometime in December a movie about the Nutcracker will be coming out too so yay to that!
