Turkey Day Inspiration

My stomach is starting to get hungry for all the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie that's only 2 days away. Even though Christmas is everywhere already I can't let myself get too excited about it until I celebrate the holidays in proper order. I am surrounding myself with images and thoughts of Fall, cooking, turkeys and family togetherness. So I've cooked up (pun intended) some images that are making me thankful for this time of year.

The best part about waking up early on Thanksgiving. Balloons, Broadway musical numbers AND Santa? I'm there.

LOVE this globe bowl centerpiece!

Pie is probably my favorite part of Thanksgiving. A slice of apple and pumpkin, please.

I'm so glad Charles Schultz didn't over look an opportunity for another great Charlie Brown Holiday special.

And no Thanksgiving is complete with a viewing How I Met Your Mother's Slapsgiving episode!
What are you looking forward to this Thanksgiving?

Happy Weekend!

So I've been a little MIA this week and I'm so sorry about that! I was trying to put too many blog posts together at once, causing me not to post anything at all! There will be much more to come next week so stay with me!

I'm very happy to report that I'll be doing a little mini vacation this weekend with my bestie to visit our other best friend in New Orleans. So I'll be leaving my gloves and parka behind for benyas and 77 degree weather! I am so pumped for this little getaway before the holiday hoopla in my life begins.

But I need to leave with a little Thanksgiving happiness before I fly the coop and that is these gorgeous pumpkins today I saw outside of Whole Foods. It made me want to buy up the whole pile and make the most beautiful center piece Martha ever saw! Have a great weekend and we'll catch up Monday!

A nip in the air

This picture is making me smile today despite the 48 degree temperature outside. Fall is definitely getting into it's cold period and this Fossil jacket and scarf are making me feel cozier just by looking at them.

Rock Scissor Paper

With only 44 days until Christmas (crazy, I know!) I've allowed myself to get a little excited about all things holiday. I hope once we get past Thanksgiving I can put a holiday project into motion right here on Little Yellow Apple: "An Ode to Christmas." A daily posting of something that makes this time of year truly magical, so keep your eyes open for that. With that said, here is something to wet your whistle - Christmas cards! - which is something okay to think about early because you usually need to send them out 2 weeks before the big day.

A favorite stationery store of mine is Rock Scissor Paper. Two best friends that happen to be sisters create some very design savvy holiday cards that are too cute. I would love to see some of these hit my mailbox!

Free People for the Holidays

Some of you know that I am an employee of Anthropologie and sometimes get completely obsessed with every product they sell and forgot about how awesome its sister companies are- namely Free People.

I recently shared some of my favorite pages from Anthro's Holiday catalog and today I stumbled upon Free Peep's (what I imagine their store's nickname is) November issue and fell in love for the second time this week!

I have to say that I usually don't go for the flowy romantic look but I am really into all the lace and silk I'm seeing everywhere right now. I mean how convenient would it be to go out in one of these slinky party dresses and then come home and get into bed in practically the same thing? Brilliant! I have to say my favorite look is the 2nd picture. The top part of her dress is really a bralette layered over a slip dress and both are at a really good price considering how much you use you could get out of both items. I smell an online shopping spree!

Kate Spade legwear

With a new super cute London shop opening I have been seeing Kate Spade images and products everywhere. She has the gorgeous bag and shoe game on lock and I have just started realizing how amazing her clothing pieces are too. Her trench and swing jackets are calling my name as well a pair of skinny jeans and a divine black cocktail dress. But what I am loving the most, as I drool over every article of clothing, is her great legwear! Bright pops of color add a preppy uniqueness to her investment type pieces and make me think I can pull blue, yellow and hot pink with lots of things in my wardrobe.

Girl crush

I have a special place in my heart for Emma Watson. Not only do I love her character in Harry Potter but she just seems like a super down to earth, wants to get a college education, have a normal girl kind of life and is rocking a super cute pixie haircut right now. What I wouldn't give to have a sassy British accent with wavy hair like her!
