Trick or Treat

Last night was round 1 in the dressing up Halloween extravaganza of my weekend.
Over the past few years I left the "sexy costume" trend behind and started going as actual people. Partly because I'm too classy (and perhaps too old) to be showing off the goods like I did in college and second you can't beat a 10 dollar costume put together from Goodwill or flea markets.
Over the summer I became obsessed with How I Met Your Mother so I decided to pull out a costume people were probably doing 3 years ago and go as Robin Sparkles. Robin Scherbatsky's teen pop star identity. I knew no one would know who I was seeing as her look is pretty late 80's/early 90's generic, so worse come to worse people would think I pulled out my acid wash skirt and jelly bracelets from the back of my closet and called it a last minute costume.

Well one person knew who I was and I'm calling it a successful night!
I also helped work the door for this event so I got to see everyone's Halloween costume fresh off the elevator and these were the costumes I was most impressed with...

That's right, two girls came as the Blue Barracuda team! Decked out with helmets, knee pads, and their names on the back of their tshirts they were ready to beat out the Green Monkeys and answer a history question about Sacajawea.

A group of 5 came as characters from Mario Kart. Mario, Luigi, Toadstool, the Princess and Yoshi were all in attendance complete with home made boxes with suspenders to act as their go-kart.
Two girls came as Judy and Jane Jetson. I can't wait for the future...white and orange hair that looks great with that one outfit we own...and flying cars? It's gonna rock!
I hope everyone has a safe, fun and Happy Halloween! Save some fun sized candy bars for me!

Squirrel, Squirrel, Shake Your Bushy Tail

I am finding cute little squirrels all over the internet lately! I can't resist their big eyes, pink noses, and bushy tails. Squirrel #1. Squirrel #2. Squirrel #3.

The Great Pumpkin Comes Tonight!

Tonight, tonight, The Great Pumpkin comes on tonight! Catch the Charlie Brown classic tonight at 8pm (est) on ABC. You won't be disapointed.

To start your weekend with a smile

It's Friday! This week has seemed very long, so I am definitely looking forward to some sleeping in, catching up with friends and taking in some fun fall activities.

I'm sharing some fun images from around the Internet, lets meet back on Monday! :) *This beautiful wedding picture is taken by some friends of mine Chris and Allie who reside in Hot-lanta Georgia. You can check out their blog here.

A Pink Nighmare

This could be you for Halloween.

How awesome would this be if you showed up to your Halloween dressed like this?? You would win any contest hands down with this trick up your sleeve.

This costume can be bought here, as well as many other items revolving around the movie A Christmas Story.

I'm trying to hold back on the Christmas postings...but I can't help it. The joy of the season is taking over me extremely early. I shouldn't even mention I bought a new Christmas tree the other day at Garden Ridge, but I can't help it!

The Best Night Ever

How I Met Your Mother aired a hilarious episode this past Monday night that referenced a website Marshall created to commemorate date night with Barney and Robin, and of course it now actually exists on the Internet.

Check it out!

A little laugh to get your through your Friday, enjoy!

She's Back!

Thank Goodness! Kristin Chenoweth is coming back to Broadway!

She is set to make her Great White Way debut in a show opposite Sean Hayes called Promises, Promises. This show has a darker feel than most things Kristin has been apart of, and I like it!

The book is by Neil Simon, one of my favs, and has great titles to songs such as "She Likes Basketball" and "Turkey Lurkey Time." The story in short is she's in love with someone that doesn't love her back. Songs and dances ensue.

She's adorable and I am so going to NYC when it comes out!

The Holiday is Upon Us

I was going on about Christmas last week but I need to set my inner holiday calendar right and start focusing on this months holiday-Halloween.

Something about surrounding yourself in the season and putting up decorations always puts a smile on my face. Here are a few treats of Halloween cuteness that need to find their way into your life.
Charlie Brown's It's the Great Pumpkin is the best Halloween movie of all time! I love watching it every year, but the best part is if your anxious to watch it now you don't have to wait; you can find the movie in it's entirety on youtube. I also have a love for nesting dolls and the combination of the two is almost too much cute to handle.
I know some of your dearest friends would love to see this card in their mailbox before the 31st. You can find this card along with many others at Hello Lucky.

Lastly, I love children's books about Halloween. The Big Book of Chills and Thrills has been a book I've been drooling over for a year or two now and I think I might finally break down and get it. It's full of spooky stories, spells, poems, recipes, and Halloween legends. It has that great vintage feel to the illustrations too. The one on the right is a book of Halloween poems I've owned since I was a child.
So start picking your pumpkin, eating handfuls of candy corn and putting the finishing touches on your costume. Halloween is only 19 days away!

Christmas in October

I don't usually like to support Christmas before Thanksgiving but when Hallmark is involved I'm willing to overlook anything. This weekend is part 2 of their Christmas ornament debut!
There's usually only a handful of ornaments that don't make the July premier, but there were some super cute ones held back until this weekend, like the timeless Gayla Peevey classic "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" ornament.
Every year I tell myself only get a few and then "a few" turns into 5 or 6. I only have 2 so far and for me that's pretty good. I'll see you in line with your Gold Crown Card!

Apple Picks

Movies! Movies! Movies!

September Recap

I have to admit I still haven't seen Fame, my "Shiny Apple" pick of September but I still have hope. It's #7 at the box office as of Sunday so hopefully it can stick around a little longer for me to get out and see it.

My rotten apple pick still holding on at #10 and has made 18 million already. I guess it's just my cold black hear that keeps me from seeing every romantic comedy that comes out; but to all the fellas who were dragged out to see it please tell me how it ended! :)

Onto the October picks.

Now if I had been a good little blogger I would have done this on the 1st of the month and my Shiny pick would have been The Invention of Lying. But I've already watched this movie and it sucked! I know, I know, Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, Rob Lowe, these people are all funny but put them in a movie together and you would think the result would be a hilarious movie. I was so wrong. There were too many things going on, too many story lines, not enough funny jokes.

My new Shiny Apple Pick: Couples Retreat (October 9th). This pick sounds as cliche as The Invention of Lying with all the funny people in the cast, but I think this one will be better. Instead of subtle British humor this one will come right out with it. I don't really care for Vince Vaughn but I will watch anything with Kristin Davis and the previews have made me laugh, so I'm there.

Other apples to watch: Amelia (October 23rd). I don't care for Hilary "Horse Teeth" Swank either, and this movie is screaming give me another Oscar nod but I love a good historic biography. Boondock Saints II (October 30). See this post for further convincing.

Rotten Apple Pick: Cirque Du Freat: The Vampire Assistant (October 23). This movie is actually based on a series of books and it looks ridiculous! Enough with the vampires already and to drag Salma Hayek into it all with a beard none the less is just plain silly.

Grab a bowl of candy and I'll see you at the movies!

A kick in the pants

It's October 8th and what have I been doing with my life?! (I mean that purely rhetorical by the way)

It has been over 2 weeks since my last post and I said I was going to be better at posting too....tsk tsk I am so sorry. I truly love blogging but unlike most of the great blogs I read I don't have the joy of working out of my home and my evenings are spent working on pictures from my weekend job or sitting on the couch with my honey and my dog and then I don't feel like doing anything. So it's a struggle to find the motivation to get on here and share my thoughts.

But I will try again. Please keep the faith my 7 little readers!

So it's fall, the weather is getting cooler, I've already begun to wear a light coat in the mornings, boots on my feet, pumpkin spice lattes are being drunk and a trip to is being planned to a pumpkin patch for next weekend!

Let's also get excited about the hour long Office episode tonight. Jim and Pam's wedding! I have been in their corner since episode one and I can't wait to see how it all comes together tonight.

Since I've been a major slacker after I post this entry I'm coming back to talk about Sept. movies and what's on the cutting board for October movies. As we get closer to the Oscar season more good movies will be making their way to theatres so thank goodness for that.
